The First Suburb
The community of Roland Park in Baltimore City is a historically significant neighborhood. Developed during the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, Roland Park is considered to be one of North America’s first planned suburban communities. Named after Lake Roland, which lies to the north and is itself named after the English Baltimore County landholder Roland Thornberry, the first Roland Park, MD real estate for sale was put on the market in the 1890s.
The cool tranquility of its tree-lined streets, landscaped gardens and spacious, airy homes was a major attraction then as it still is now. Well-planned and well-designed, Roland Park, MD Luxury Homes are set in a rolling landscape strewn with numerous stands of old-growth trees, a significant number of which have been flourishing in the district since the colonial era.
The Baltimore Country Club
More open, green spaces can be found on the grounds of the Baltimore Country Club. Founded in 1898 right here in Roland Park, the Country Club has two clubhouses, the second of which is located in nearby Lutherville. The Roland Park Clubhouse sprawls over more than 100 acres and is fitted out with facilities like duckpin bowling lanes, grass tennis courts and squash courts. The golf courses and the Swim Complex (which is made up of three swimming pools) can be found at the Five Farms Clubhouse in Lutherville.
